Winemaking: Organic Savagnin grapes were harvested by hand in the following years; 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021. Fermentation was carried out each year with indigenous yeast and the wine was added to a perpetual reserve so this is a blend of all of those vintages. Bottled with no fining or filtration and just a tiny amount of sulphur.

This Wine: Also known as Rot Traminer, Savagnin Rose is the non-aromatic relative to Gewurtztraminer. Slightly amber in the glass with aromas of subtle stone and tropical fruit with a pronounced mineral finish. Best partnered with cheese. A special, complex bottle.

Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Pierre Rietsch is a natural winemaker in the village of Mittelbergheim, Alsace. His estate has been in the family for seven generations but wasn't used for vine cultivation until the 1970s. All of Jean-Pierre's wines are in very high demand but we particularly love his skin-contact cuvees which is a winemaking method rarely seen in Alsace.
