Winemaking: Organic Chenin Blanc grapes from old vines planted on silex and sandy soils were harvested by hand. Direct press and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged for 3 years under a veil of flor in old barrels that were not topped up before being bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur. 

This Wine: Natural white wine with a full body. This is a special cuvée that Renaud has only made a couple of times previously.  The time under flor takes us to an astonishing level of complexity. Preserved lemon, spice and saline notes are complimented by some dark, umami flavours. Just about everything going on. A unique wine that will get even better with age. 

Notes on the Winemaker: Renaud Guettier is the man behind La Grapperie, located in Loire village of Bueil-de-Touraine. There he farms 5 hectares of old vines and produces intense and elegant wines that are always aged in old barrels.
